Hangovers and heights don't really go together well. So we approached the new year and the first activity of the list with a mix of excitement and nervousness, unsure of whether our pickled livers and gurgling stomachs would hold out a 30 minute journey up into the sky above Brighton's sea front.
With Becca Marsh and Joel Chevaillier
Becca and Joel are 2/3 of the founding members of the Global Convoy and unofficially my spirit animals. I met them at an event we were both speaking at and I loved their attitudes towards life and adventure. I couldn't think of better people to spend Day 1 of this project with.
There's something really special about seeing a place from above, suddenly all the streets are filled with tiny people and each window on the buildings is filled with a tiny life. We were blessed today with gorgeous crisp, bright weather which made our 'flight' on the 162m observation tower a real treat for the eyes. The views across the town on one side and out to sea with the old pier on the other were so spectacular we forgot temporarily how dubious we felt.
'Rather than spending your life on big goals it's the little things that make you learn. They're more important and put value into your life.' Becca & Joel
With a fully-stocked bar and friendly hosts you could easily think you had stepped into Business Class on a BA flight, but my stomach was definitely grateful for the lack of turbulence.
We ended a perfect first day sat on the beach eating chips and watching the sun set over the sea. I think this is going to be a pretty amazing year.
Adult tickets for a 30 minute BA i360 'flight' start at £14.85 if you buy in advance.
